FECYT launches the REBECA Explorer program, a new pilot mentoring initiative aimed at CSIC researchers. The program is based on peer group mentoring in which all members of the group act as both mentors and mentees at the same time. The goal is to facilitate to early-career researchers (R1 and R2) the exploration of career options beyond academia. The members of the group support each other in this endeavour sharing their knowledge and experience.
From its launch on May 5 until July 11, 23 researchers will meet in four groups facilitated by FECYT staff. In these peer groups, they will discuss topics relevant to career management and the exploration of professional opportunities. Additionally, program participants will receive training in career planning and non-academic CV writing.
This program is being launched in collaboration with the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and will result in the creation of guidelines to help institutions implement it. The programme is funded by the European project ERA TALENT. Within EURAXESS, this is an activity of the Hub Researcher Careers Beyond Academia.
